Plan 2035 designates a Priority Preservation Area (PPA), which is consistent with the boundaries approved in the 2012 Priority Preservation Area Functional Master Plan. The purpose of this designation is to protect agricultural and forest resources and promote the long-term viability of the agricultural sector.
- Investment in the PPA will require the use of various funding mechanisms including, but not limited to:
- Encouragement of Agricultural Economic Development Activities
- Historic Agricultural Resource Preservation Program (HARPP)
- Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Fund (MALPF)
- Purchase of Agricultural Easements
- Rural Legacy Funds
While Plan 2035 reinforces County goals for rural and agricultural land preservation, the Priority Preservation Area Functional Master Plan contains specific and detailed policies and strategies to achieve these goals.
